Our organization began as an answer to the Stop Mass Incarceration Network‘s call for a October 2014 to be a month of resistance to police brutality, mass incarceration, and racial injustice. Our inspiration was Michelle Alexander’s call for a movement for racial justice in her book The New Jim Crow. We are fully supportive of the uprisings that began in Ferguson and the Black Lives Matter movement that took hold in late 2014. Since then, we have continued our efforts to “puncture the silence” about the discriminatory injustices incarcerating a generation of youth of color, including hosting a People’s Trubinal on Police Brutality in Cleveland. It is our moral responsibility to bring awareness to the New Jim Crow and ultimately end it. Email us to join us in the fight or donate!cropped-b5uky4acaaaivhx.jpg
